Samajwadi Party workers set up a “pakoda’ (fritters) stall in Rampur on Monday to protest against a recent comment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a television interview.
“Over a 100 young and educated youths are present here. They are all unemployed and this is their message to the Prime Minister that they need real jobs,” said senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who visited the stall and purchased ‘pakodas’.
Khan also highlighted the connection between unemployment and rise in incidents of violence. “I would like to request the Prime Minister and chief minister to stop all development work and focus only on providing jobs to unemployed youth. This will ensure peace in the country and prevent our youths from straying to the wrong path,” he said.
A similar function was organised by SP workers in Bareilly on Sunday. Here , they had held a ‘ pakoda making class’ to mock the PM’s statement.
