Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said that no government could be formed at centre without the support of SP after next Lok Sabha elections.
He said other parties, including Left, had now started talking about third front, which would not be possible without SP.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of birth anniversary of former SP state president Ramsaran Das, the party chief said those calling SP, as regional party should understand that Uttar Pradesh was the biggest state where the SP had majority. Several smaller states put together could not match the strength of UP, Yadav said.
Hoping that the people would give full mandate to SP in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Yadav said SP had already emerged as a major force in the country.
Referring to prevailing Indo-China border row, Yadav said he had been cautioning the central government for the last ten years.
Dubbing China as “Dhoke baaz” (cheat) country, Yadav said it had expansionist plan and the country should be vigilant about its mechanism.
About the Babri masjid issue, Yadav recalled that he written a letter to the President on December 4, 1992 expressing apprehension about its demolition on December 6.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance of the Akhilesh Yadav government, Yadav said it had implemented series of welfare schemes, which had left other states far behind.
Pointing out that government had implemented SP’s several electoral promises, Yadav said remaining would be fulfilled soon. Yadav lauded the contribution of Ramsaran Das during his 16 years presidentship of the party.
The chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said that SP had emerged as a major force and efforts would be made to make it national party in next Lok Sabha elections. He said people all over the country had been talking about the SP government and Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Calling upon the workers to gear up for the elections, Yadav said party would teach proper lesson to the Congress, because of its policies. The PWD minister Shivpal Yadav, health minister Ahmad Hasan and other leaders also paid rich tributes to Das.
