UP: AAP promises to implement ‘Delhi model’ in civic bodies

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will seek votes in Uttar Pradesh civic polls with a promise to implement the ‘Delhi model’ in municipal corporations across the state.

The party decided on Tuesday to announce first list of candidates on October 15.

National spokesperson and state incharge Sanjay Singh was in Lucknow on Tuesday to preside over a party meeting convened to formulate strategy for UP civic polls. 

From Mohalla clinics, to complete waver of pending house tax of people and thereafter its slashing by half, upgradation of all primary schools, toilets for females at all prominent markets in cities and slashing of parking charges by half are some of the promises made by the AAP to the electorate. 

“We will implement highly successful Delhi model in all municipal corporations across the state,” said Sanjay Singh.

AAP did not contest assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh that saw Bharatiya Janata Party storming to power by winning 324 out of 405 assembly seats. 

All 14 major cities having municipal corporations are on the party’s priority list where it would field its candidate for the coveted post of mayor. In these cities, the party would also contest in all wards for post of corporators.
