Planning to redecorate: Here’s some spring-happy inspiration
From picking colours that’ll light up your room to welcoming nature indoors, here are easy ways to usher in spring, with some expert help.
Spring brings with it visions of an idyllic lifestyle, dotted with bursts of yellows, mustards and greens. And with spring cleaning, how about indulging in spring redecorating and imbibing vibrant hues in your home? Colourful cushions, solid centrepieces, indoor plants — let these decor tips from experts help in refreshing your space for the season of colours.

Welcome spring by using as many flowers as you wish. “Flowers in small pots and creative floral arrangements in pretty vases, coloured candles and decorative items bring an explosion of colours,” says interior designer Punam Kalra.

A colour palette ranging from mints and lilacs to oranges and lime greens, can be used to brighten up your space. “It works best when looking to refresh the surroundings, or to add character. The key is to pick the right size and style as per space — a tall, classy lamp works best for home whereas a quirky, small-sized lamp can be used for the office desk,” says interior designer Nikarika Choudhary. About a must-have decor item for nature lovers, she adds, “A piece of furniture in dark green is a must for vintage lovers.”
In addition to decor pieces, basic bed linen and curtains can also be given a makeover. “Cushions, rugs and throws should be spruced for a fresh vibe. Without changing the main curtains, even by changing sheer curtains, the difference would be substantial. Emphasise should be in the right colour, that should be attuned to nature,” says Kalra. And if you want to go all out, then how about picking the brush and splashing your walls with shades of the rainbow? “For a bold wall, keep the rest of the elements subtle. Being minimal is the key,” she adds..
