An 18-year-old student died after he fell off a moving train near Kopar Khairane railway station on Friday.

According to the railway police, Saba Ahmad Shakur Ali, a resident of the same area, fell down when he was travelling in a train on the trans-harbour line. He suffered severe injuries on his head and other parts of his body in the accident.
"A few people who spotted him lying along the tracks rushed him to NMMC hospital in Vashi. But he died there after a few hours, " said a GRP official.
The deceased's elder brother later came to the hospital and identified the body.
"We still don't have any idea about the train he fell off. Therefore, we can't say if the train was a crowded one or the deceased was standing on the footboard and slipped off," the office said.
The police later handed over the deceased's body to his family after a postmortem was conducted in the hospital. Meanwhile, they have registered an accidental death case.
