The Bandra police on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man for raping his 31-year-old colleague repeatedly over a period of six years, after allegedly making a false promise to marry her.
The woman was shocked when she checked his Facebook profile where he had uploaded photos of his marriage following which, she lodged a complaint with the Bandra police.
According to the police, the accused is a resident of Bandra (West) while the complainant is from Andheri.
The duo met in 2011 at their workplace in Powai where they became friends and eventually fell in love.
The accused proposed to marry her and invited her to meet his parents at his home in Bandra.
The complainant got acquainted with his parents but said since her mother was suffering from an illness, she would marry him, once she recovered.
The accused used to often invite her to his home where he forced her to have a physical relationship with him, against her will. He maintained a physical relationship with her from 2012 till 2015 after which they broke up. He even blocked her number.
She then met his father who patched them up. The accused continued to rape her at his home till recently, when he dumped her.
A few days ago when the woman checked his Facebook profile and saw his marriage photos and confronted him, his mother threw her out of their Bandra house.
She then approached the Bandra police station where an FIR was registered last week under section 376 (2) (n) (commits rape repeatedly on a woman) of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013 and section 417 (cheating) of the IPC.
