35-year-old internet operator chases, catches car thief
The complainant chased the accused for almost 2km
A 35-year-old internet operator chased down and nabbed a man who had robbed him and was trying to escape with his car on Wednesday night.

The complainant Mohommad Sayyad Shafiq Sayyad, a resident of Govandi was standing outside a bar at Mankhurd link road at 11.30 pm on Wednesday, when the incident took place.
Commenting on the case, an officer from Tilak Nagar police station said, “Sayyad was standing outside a bar when the accused arrived with a chopper and threatened to hurt him unless Sayyad gave up all his valuables. The robber took away all of Sayyad’s belongings which includes Rs3,000 cash and mobile phone and asked for his car keys to escape.”
The accused, Abdul Majid Mohommad Shaikh, 42, a Bandra resident escaped in the complainant’s car but Sayyad did not give up and followed the accused in a rickshaw.
“The complainant chased the accused for almost two kilometers. Khan thought that he was safe but as soon as he saw the complainant following him in a rickshaw, he panicked and banged his car onto a divider. He was then nabbed with the help of locals,” added the officer.
The accused was then handed over to Deonar police station following which the case was transferred to Tilak Nagar police station and Khan was handed over to them.
Khan is a repeat offender and has several cases of robbery and house breaking registered with the police stations in the east region.
He has been booked under sections 394 (voluntarily causing hut in attempt to commit robbery) 397 robbery dacoity with attempt to cause death or gracious hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage to rupees fifty or more) of the Indian Penal Code and has been remanded to police custody.
