A 50-year-old man was hurt after he fell off his bike, which skidded owing to a pothole on Anand Dighe bridge in Kalyan. He suffered minor injuries, said sources.

The downpour in Kalyan and Dombivli over the past two days has highlighted the shoddy road repairs undertaken by the civic body.

The Anand Dighe bridge connects Kalyan (East) and (West). Hundreds of motorists and heavy vehicles commute via it daily.

In another major incident, a huge tree fell on a car parked on the Kalyan-Waldhuni stretch on Wednesday night, leading to a three-hour-long traffic jam. This stretch connects Kalyan and Ulhasnagar.

A portion of the approach road leading to the Patripool bridge in Kalyan was washed away owing to incessant rainfall. The civic authority has barricaded the area and repairs are underway.
