Over the weekend, a three-day silent garba event has been organised at Rajmahal Banquets, Malad, where well-known singers such as Preeti and Pinky, and Anand Shinde will perform live in a studio. The participants can dance to the music by listening to it on the headphones that will be provided.

“In events like these, there is no restriction of time and neither are we creating noise pollution, so we can continue the celebrations till 4am,” said Aboli Anand, owner of the banquet hall. According to a 2000 Supreme Court order, the use of loudspeakers after 10pm is prohibited.

After the implementation of this order, organisers had introduced silent garba a few years ago, but discontinued it after most participants said they enjoyed the festival only during a live performance. However, this year, organisers have again decided to give the concept a try.

Artists performing at outdoor events have also agreed to perform indoors after 10pm.

Nagda, an artist, who will perform at Thane till 10pm, will head to The Lalit Hotel for ‘midnight garba’, which will be performed indoors.

Music duo Priti-Pinky, who will be performing at Borivli till 10pm, will head to Malad and perform at the silent garba.

“Not everyone can make it for festivities by 10pm, owing to which the concept of indoor garba will benefit most office-goers,” said Nagda.
