Derailment near Chinchpokli hits Central Railway services

Confirming the failure, a CR spokesperson said the derailment had caused minimum effect to the services as it was not rush hour.

Suburban services on Central Railway were affected due to the derailment of a parcel train. The incident took place at 12.45pm near Chinchpokli, when the train was coming from Matunga yard to Byculla.

Commuters complained that trains were late by 15 to 20 minutes and that they had to remain stuck for over half an hour in train which was just behind the parcel train. “For over half an hour, our train was stuck at Curry Road. Some of the commuters even started walking on the tracks,” said Asha Puri, Mulund resident.

Commuters, on the other hand, complained about the delay till late in the afternoon. “The trains were running very slow beyond Dadar. My train was almost 15 minutes behind schedule,” said Shruti Desai, Ghatkopar resident.
