The two brothers, one of them a minor, were arrested after the Bandra traffic head constable Vilas Shinde, died of his injuries nine days after the incident.

Both brothers were present at when the charge sheet was filed. The older brother continues to be in prison, while the minor is at the Dongri correction home.
The charge sheet, in its description of the crime, said the older brother had assaulted Shinde with a wooden stick on the back of his head for stopping the minor for a traffic violation. Shinde had asked the minor to call his parents as he was not allowed to legally ride a bike, but the minor called his brother instead and exaggerated the incident.
The Khar police said the statements of 50 to 60 people had been recorded in the 700-page charge sheet. Of them, at least 10 to 12 were eye-witnesses. The brothers’ call data records and CCTV footage from the area were also included in the charge sheet .
