Mumbai autorickshaw driver kills pedestrian while teaching son to drive, CCTV footage nails them

The police recently arrested an autorickshaw driver, who allegedly run over a pedestrian while teaching his son to drive on September 27, with the help of CCTV footage.
According to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police, the incident took place around 6pm on BKC road near Bharatnagar.
“Bilal Hasan Shaikh, 49, was heading towards Kurla with his 16-year-old son seated beside him,” said an officer from BKC police station.
Nagraj Sushilkumar Pandey, 23, was walking along the road with a friend when the rickshaw crashed into him and fled. Pandey, originally from Jharkhand, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on admission.
An FIR was registered at the BKC police station against an unidentified motorist.
While scanning the CCTV footage from cameras installed in the vicinity, the police got the registration number of the vehicle.
Shaikh was traced and arrested. His son too has been booked, and will be sent to the Dongri correction home. Shaikh was produced before a magistrate court and granted a cash bail of Rs7,000.
