Mumbai ‘cop’ molests nurse on skywalk after threatening to falsely implicate her in theft case

A month on, Andheri police are still on the hunt for a man who allegedly posed as a police officer and molested a nurse on a skywalk. The accused had also threatened to falsely implicate the woman in a theft case, said police.
Police said the 31-year-old woman, who works at a private hospital in Andheri (East), was on her way home around 9.45 pm on September 21 when the man blocked her path.
He showed her a police ID, covering the photograph with his finger. The woman said the man accused her of stealing a laptop and ordered her to come to the police station with him.“He touched my chest and back,” states the first information report (FIR).
The woman said she told the man to stay away. By the time she called her relative, the man fled, said police.The woman approached the Andheri police, who filed a case under section 170 (impersonating a public servant) and 354 (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.
“We checked the CCTV cameras in the vicinity, but have not got any leads. We also showed the woman photographs of criminals matching the description she gave us, but she said she did not spot the man who molested her,” said an officer from the Andheri police sation.Investigations are ongoing, said police.
