Mumbai criminal carrying pistol, live rounds arrested in Bandra

According to the Mumbai police, the arrested accused, Lala alias Parvej Vilayatali Shaikh, 28, has four cases against him

The police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old criminal for allegedly possessing a 9mm pistol and three live rounds. He is now in police custody.

According to the police, the arrested accused, Lala alias Parvej Vilayatali Shaikh, 28, has four cases against him.

On Tuesday evening, the police received a tip-off that Shaikh was carrying a pistol and was in Bandra.

A trap was laid and a team led by detection officer, sub-Inspector Bhimsen Gaikwad, caught him under the U bridge in Bandra West.

“The accused, a resident of Nargis Dutt nagar in Bandra, was arrested for three thefts. He was wanted in an assault case,” said a police officer from Bandra police station. “We were on his lookout for the past two months. He may have got the pistol to threaten people.”

Sanjeev Bhole, police inspector, crime, said, “An FIR has been registered against Shaikh for possessing a firearm without having a licence.”
