Speeding car runs over 5-year-old girl in Andheri, driver arrested
The driver, Srinivas Balkrishna Rajkunda, 33, rushed the child to Cooper hospital
A 5-year-old girl was killed as a speeding car knocked her down while she was crossing the road in Andheri (West).

The incident took place around 5pm on Sunday, when the child, Laxmi Pujari, was heading to Juhu beach with her aunt, cousins and other relatives. The senior KG student’s father, Yalappa Pujari, 32, is a driver, and they lived in Ghangarwadi in Juhu lane in Andheri (West).
While Laxmi went ahead with her relatives, her parents were a little behind them. “Laxmi’s aunt and others were waiting to cross the road. Suddenly, Laxmi left her aunt’s hand and ran towards the road. A speeding Wagon R coming from the opposite direction hit her,” said Parmeshwar Ganame, senior inspector of DN Nagar police station.
The driver, Srinivas Balkrishna Rajkunda, 33, rushed the child to Cooper hospital. The police was also informed about the incident. “The child died around 10pm,” said Ganame.
Rajkunda lives in Goregaon and had come to drop his relatives in Andheri. Rajkunda was arrested for causing death due to rash and negligence driving, said the official.
