Spine surgeon swaps scalpel for paintbrush to help poor patients
Mumbai-based spine surgeon, Dr Shekar Bhojraj, has put up his art work on display at the Nehru Centre in Worli.
Mumbai-based spine surgeon, Dr Shekar Bhojraj, has put up his art work on display at the Nehru Centre in Worli.
Proceeds from the two-day exhibition, which opened on Saturday, will be used for the treatment of underprivileged patients.
“I started painting to relax after a tiring day at work and then gradually, it turned into my passion. If these paintings can help us raise funds for the treatment of patients, nothing will make me happier,” said Bhojraj.
The work on display will include 95 frames of water colour paintings, pencil sketches and photographs.
Bhojraj and his wife founded the Spine Foundation in 1998.
Dr Priyank Patel, a spine surgeon and one of the trustees of the foundation, said, “We have made a book consisting of around 300 photographs and paintings by Dr Bhojraj. These books would be given to the donors as a token of appreciation.”
She said the money will directly be donated to the account of the foundation.
