Two men from Mumbai robbed of Rs 20 lakh in separate incidents

In two separate incidents, two men lost more than Rs 20 lakh to five robbers in Andheri (East) and Hiranandani, Powai.

The first incident took place at 5.45 pm on October 30, when the complainant, Vijay Kadam, 33, a resident of Andheri (East), was riding his bike on Western Express Highway.

He was on the southbound stretch of the Andheri bridge when four men on bikes allegedly waylaid him. They snatched his bag containing Rs 14.36 lakh and fled, Kadam told the police. One of the bikes was red, and the other was black. The police are verifying his statement by sifting through CCTV cameras. A first information report has been registered under sections 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

In the second incident, the Powai police said an unidentified man stole Rs 6 lakh after smashing the window of a parked car near Hiranandani, Powai. The car belonged to Hiranandani resident Nasir Pirai, 51.

The police have filed an FIR under section 379 of the IPC for theft at Powai police station based on Pirai’s complaint.
