Will bring clarity to Development Control and Promotions Regulation if citizens point out errors, says Mumbai civic body chief

The 30-day period for suggestions and objections ends on June 21

Municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta has assured that if any errors or contradictions are pointed out by citizens during the 30-day period for suggestions and objections, efforts will be taken by BMC to bring clarity in the Development Control and Promotions Regulation (DCPR) 2034.

DCPR refers to rules and regulation that will dictate building construction activity in the city as per the vision outlined in the Development Plan. Speaking to members of Practicing Engineers, Architects and Town Planners Association of India (PEATA), at a seminar –‘Impact of the new DCPR on development of Mumbai’, Mehta said, “Citizens can bring to the notice of the Urban Development Department and BMC, any specific errors with details, if any are noticed, during the 30-day period for suggestions and objections.”

In response to concerns raised by architects and town planners regarding errors and contradictions in the DCPR, Mehta also said it would be better to classify suggestions and objections rather than giving them in a haphazard manner. While Mehta he did not admit that the new DCPR had errors, he said if Mumbaiites notice that some regulations are vague or need more information, they can seek clarity on the regulations during the suggestions and objections period.
