20-year-old murders brother over property dispute

MUMBAI: A 20-year-old man murdered his 26-year-old brother by slitting his throat at his residence in Kandivli early morning on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Islam Nizamuddin Khan, 26, was staying in Nehru Chawl in Damunagar at Kandivali (East), along with his wife Anjum Begum.

Police learnt that the brothers had been fighting over the division of their recently constructed house, located at their native place.

The elder brother had promised the suspect , Uber Alam Khan that he would give him a share of the new house.

However, he refused to keep his promise when the construction of the house was completed.

Uber and Islam fought on Saturday evening. Police said Uber was angered and decided to kill his brother.

Uber, who lives in another house in the same area, visited Islam’s house around 2 am. He slit his brother’s throat with a knife, while Anjum was sleeping in the same room.

Anjum screamed for help.

However, Uber had fled by the time neighbours gathered at the spot.

The police were informed and Uber was nabbed from the vicinity.

Police recorded Anjum’s statement and have booked Uber under t he charge of murder.
