Singer Falguni Pathak, known as the ‘Dandiya Queen’, will be singing along with sisters Preeti-Pinky and Nilesh Thakkar, who have already been performing in Borivli for a long time. Pathak will perform at Pushpanjali Grounds during the nine-day festival, which begins on October 1.

Pathak said, “I always love to watch the Gujarati crowd. Borivli offers exactly what I always look for,” she said.

The Preeti-Pinky duo will perform at the Kutchi Grounds. “I am from Borivli and have been performing here for the past seven years,” said Preeti Dave.

She said they were not looking at other singers as competitors.

“Since it [Falguni’s event] will be new, people will go and check it out. But there is no competition between the singers,” she said.

Ganesh Naidu, one of the organisers of the Kora Kendra Navratri where Thakkar performs, said, “With Falguni coming in Borivli too, it is now officially the hub of Navratri.”

While Pathak has consistently been the highest paid performer — 2013 was her best year when she is reported to have charged around Rs2 crore. Her charges were reported to be Rs1.1 crore in 2015.
