2,697 Mumbai jail inmates out on bail missing: Patil

As many as 2,697 inmates from Mumbai jails, out on bail, have gone missing, home minister RR Patil said here today. Patil said this in the state assembly, in a written reply to a query by BJP MLA Girish Bapat.

As many as 2,697 inmates from Mumbai jails, out on bail, have gone missing, home minister RR Patil said in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Patil said this in the state assembly, in a written reply to a query by BJP MLA Girish Bapat, who wanted to know if over 2,500 inmates from jails in Mumbai, who were out on bail, have gone missing.



As of June 2013, altogether 2,697 absconding accused are yet to be arrested, he said, adding orders have been issued to police to trace and arrest the remaining inmates.
