2 househelp held for robbing employers

In separate incidents of thefts, two househelp who stole cash and valuables collectively worth more than Rs17 lakh from their employers’ residences have been arrested.

In separate incidents of thefts, two househelp who stole cash and valuables collectively worth more than Rs17 lakh from their employers’ residences have been arrested.

In the first incident, the Nirmal Nagar police arrested Anil Kiran, 30, who worked at the residence of Babita Sahu, 39, in Bandra (East).

Kiran allegedly withdrew Rs7 lakh from Sahu’s account by forging her signature on blank cheques. He also stole cash and ornaments worth Rs2.9 lakh from her residence before he went into hiding. He was traced on Tuesday and arrested.

On Monday, the Oshiwara police arrested Raju Mandal from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stealing cash and ornaments worth Rs7.5 lakh from the residence of his employer, Narendra Khandelwal, who lives at Lokhandwala.
