The police had earlier arrested Mitesh Shah, 35, an Ahmedabad-based jeweller for his involvement in the case. Shah led the police to Ratanchand Jain, 47, and Rakesh Jain,42, who run a jewellery store, Manu-The Designer Jewellers, in NRD Complex in Bangalore.

Shah had selected ornaments worth Rs1 crore from the complainant's shop in April 2011. He had taken the ornaments with the promise to return with the money in eight days. However, even after being contacted repeatedly, Shah refused to pay up. The complainant finally lodged a police complaint in November last year.

With the help of the Ahmedabad police, the accused was traced and arrested. "The accused who have been arrested from Bangalore, have been remanded to police custody till February 9," said Avinash Sonawane, senior police inspector, LT Marg police station.
