3 held for robbing jewellery

The police arrested three robbers who had stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 38 lakh from Rajesh Karwad, an ornaments’ manufacturer, on May 23. Ornaments worth Rs 28 lakh have been recovered from them. HT Correspondent reports.

Rajesh had reportedly gone to a sell his products to a jewellery showroom in Indra Nagar Society when the robbers attacked him.

Sanjay Baviskar, deputy commissioner of police zone IV said: “We scanned the records for people arrested for similar offences and found 15 people who were out of jail.”

The arrested had been observing the victim for two weeks, said the police.

The police have also arrested one Dinesh Verma for buying the stolen jewellery. Police are looking for the other accused as jewellery worth 10 lakh is still missing.
