The police said they received a complaint from a commuter who sustained injuries on his leg while travelling in a train, when a stone was thrown at him near Kurla station on Friday afternoon. The victim called the railway control room and informed them about the children pelting the trains with stones.

The control room informed the Kurla GRP who immediately swung into action and nabbed the three children aged between 12-14 years. The three accused study in a local school and reside with their parents at Kasaiwada in Kurla (East).

“The children told us they did it for fun and not for hurting someone,” said Dilip Gore, senior inspector of Kurla GRP. The accused told the police they were trying to throw stones into the gap between two compartments. In earlier incidents one commuter lost his eye and a woman died after she lost balance and fell from the train.
