Four BEST buses bore the brunt of Saturday’s protest at Worli.

The BEST undertaking had said it would divert or stop services on the route if the violence were to continue. However, the situation was brought under control by evening. The violence started around 3pm, when rioters pelted stones at buses plying on route number 165 at the Worli Jamboree Maidan bus stop and on route number 168 between Wadala and Tata oil mill. Stone pelting also took place at the Worli Naka Annie Besant road on route number 83 and 84. “It is too premature to judge the loss. Presently all damaged buses are at Worli police stations,” said NA Walavalkar, public relations officer, BEST.
