The Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested four people, including the employee of a firm, which was robbed of Rs 12 lakh on August 21.
Sanjay Soni, who works for a firm owned by Amit Jain, was robbed at Zaveri Bazar when he was on way to deposit the money in a bank.
Based on a tip-off, the crime branch picked up the four accused and recovered Rs 9 lakh from them. “Dedhia was an employee of Jain and he had tipped off Kumar about the transfer of money after which the robbery was carried out,” said Milind Khetle, the senior police inspector at the unit.
The police said the remaining amount had been spent on visiting pubs and buying expensive clothes.
The accused have been handed over to L T Marg police station where the case had been registered and they will be produced before the court tomorrow.
