MUMBAI: Officials of the anticorruption bureau (ACB) arrested a sub-registrar on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs2,500. “The complainant in the case is a freelance agent. He was seeking registration of his client’s gift deed. The accused, Babasaheb Samudre, 47, demanded a bribe of Rs2,500, even though the legal fees for such a registration — Rs200 — was already paid by the e-chalan service,” said an ACB officer. The complainant then approached the ACB after which the anti-graft body verified the case. A trap was laid on Friday in which the accused was caught.
