The reason for the transfer is the pending investigation into the alleged threat he had made to Mid Day correspondent TK Dwivedi (Akela) following the latter’s arrest by the Government Railway Police last month, said a senior officer speaking on condition of anonymity.

Dwivedi was arrested in connection with an alleged defamatory article.

Following Dwivedi’s complaint Mahabole had been asked to go on leave for 15 days. Mahabole had resumed work last week.

The senior officer added that an inquiry was pending against Mahabole following a lathi-charge incident at Azad Maidan. This could be another reason for Mahabole’s certain transfer, the officer said.
