The fracture was spotted between Palghar and Saphale Road stations.

While patrolling the tracks, key-man Priya Swami noticed a fracture on the track. As the Shatabdi Express was to pass by, Swami rushed to Palghar station and got the train to stop before it reached the fracture spot.

The Western Railway spokesperson confirmed that the rail fracture was noticed by a railway staffer around 7.45pm between Palghar-Saphale Road stations.

“The portion of track was clamped and trains were operated on restricted speed,” said the spokesperson.
