Bhujbal seeks CBI probe into sonawane’s murder

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should probe into the murder of additional collector Yashwant Sonawane in Manmad, said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and public works minister, Chhagan Bhujbal at the state cabinet on Wednesday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should probe into the murder of additional collector Yashwant Sonawane in Manmad, said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and public works minister, Chhagan Bhujbal at the state cabinet on Wednesday.

Sonawane’s brutal burning by oil mafia last month had led to angry outbursts by government employees across the state and a crackdown on the fuel adulteration racket.

“I did demand an inquiry because all kinds of defamatory speculation and rumours against some of us are making the rounds. NCP has been specifically targeted by the opposition and the media,’’ said Bhujbal, also the guardian minister of Nasik.

“The best thing would be to have a CBI inquiry that would shed some light on the case,” he added. The cabinet is yet to take any decision on the issue.
