Though the minor roads reconstruction and resurfacing proposal of Rs363 crore was discussed, it was put off till next week.

With just a few days left for the code of conduct for the civic poll to come into effect, the Sena-BJP combine is in a hurry to clear project proposals. Members of the opposition, the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, don’t seem to be interested in discussing the matter either.

On Thursday, committee members spent over three hours discussing the delay in minor roads repairing proposal. At 6 pm, chairman Rahul Shewale started reading out the 92 proposals tabled before the committee. By 6.10pm, 87 of them had been approved.

Among the 87 proposals, 12 were related to nullah widening under the Brimstowad project as well as construction of retaining wall and service road along the Mithi River worth Rs350 crore; construction of a tunnel and compound wall from Ghatkopar lower reservoir to Powai-Veravali-Ghatkopar upper reservoir worth Rs165 crore and Rs19 crore proposals for repairs at civic school buildings.
