The oil used to prevent mosquitoes from breeding at construction sites leads to malaria control.

Civic health department invited spot quotations about 12 days ago, when Dapman company offered the lowest price.

The company informed the civic body on Tuesday, that it is not economically viable for them to supply the oil at that rate.

"This is not a time to backtrack, they should think before bidding. The administration has decided to blacklist the company. I suggest the civic body should prosecute the company,” said Mayor Shraddha Jadhav.

The civic administration claimed it has mosquito larvicide oil, which will last some 15 days and shortlisted another supplier for it.

“In wards such as Goregaon, Andheri (W), Kurla and Malad, few corporate houses have supplied oil tankers as part of their corporate social responsibility last week,” Manisha Mhaiskar, additional municipal commissioner, had said.
