Additional Commissioner of police (East region), Quaiser Khalid, said, “The Trombay police and CISF spotted the boat drifting in the direction of BARC. On closer inspection, we found that there was no one on the boat. The entire area was cordoned off following which a security drill was undertaken.”

The police later found that the boat belonged to Kurla resident Babloo Rathod. S Shelke, senior inspector, Trombay police station, said, “Rathod told us that he had tethered the boat to a shop at Pir Pau Jetty on Sunday. The rope unfastened and the ship drifted around one nautical mile.”
