The girls were with their parents in their house when they heard a loud thud on their terrace. “We were alone in the house until this morning when our parents returned from Ambernath,” said Reekytasha, who has just competed her studies.

Cromi, an HSC student who hit one of the robbers, said they ran to the terrace to see what had happened and were shocked to see two fat men jump from the window in the next building. “We were scared but the two told us they were not thieves. We did not realise anything until Papa came running and shouted ‘chor chor’,” said Cromi.

Their father Rajendra (45) said the thieves panicked and tried pushing his daughters aside to escape. “I caught one of them while my daughters caught hold of the other,” said Rajendra, a businessman.

“The thief Papa had caught hit him. I lost my temper then and slapped the man. My sister too beat him,” said Cromi.

The family dragged the thieves down, where other residents were waiting and handed them to the police.
