Case registered against maker of anti-Islam film

The cyber crime investigation cell on Friday registered a case against Sam Bascil the producer of the film Innocence of Muslims, that purportedly shows the prophet in bad light.

The cyber crime investigation cell on Friday registered a case against Sam Bascil the producer of the film Innocence of Muslims, that purportedly shows the prophet in bad light.

Joint commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Roy said they had registered a case under the Information Technology act and the Indian Penal Code.

Roy said the complaint was registered by a lawyer under section 66 of the IT act - hacking into a computer system-and Section 295 (a) of IPC-hurting religious sentiments. "The IPC section is cognisable and non-bailable," Roy said.
