Chavan not sure of getting coal blocks in Maharashtra

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is not sure of getting government power companies the de-allocated coal blocks within the state.

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is not sure of getting government power companies the de-allocated coal blocks within the state.

When asked whether the state would demand such blocks as those allotted to it earlier were in other states, Chavan said the new policy would decide it.

“When we were allotted blocks in other states, we pointed out difficulties in carrying coal to our state. We suggested that we be allowed to set up plants there because carrying power would be much cheaper than transporting coal to the state,” he said.

The Centre’s decision to allot mines in states to companies in other states has come under the scanner after starling revelations in the coal block allotment.
