Cheating case filed against 2 MTNL staffers

The Central Bureau of Investigation (Anti Corruption Branch) registered a case against two senior Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) employees for cheating the government enterprise of Rs 7 crore.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (Anti Corruption Branch) registered a case against two senior Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) employees for cheating the government enterprise of Rs 7 crore.

Deputy General Manager B.B. Chaudhary (GSM) and Assistant General Manager (Sales) V Gurumurthy were booked by CBI along with nine distributors of MTNL for entering into a criminal conspiracy to cheat MTNL. The FIR also has some more unnamed MTNL officials as accused.

The CBI has conducted searches at the offices and residential premises of the accused officers and business premises of the nine distributors. During the searches large number of incriminating documents and Computer Hard Disks used for activating fake connections were also seized, CBI said and added that further investigation are continuing.
