Citizens to approach local ward offices

Almost 50 citizens and representatives of organizations across the 24 civic wards attended a meeting organised by the Urban Design Research Institute in the city on Wednesday to discuss the discrepancies in the civic body’s ELU, which will form the basis for the next development plan.

Individual citizen groups, non-profit organisations and institutions have also decided to compare the ELU survey with the actual use of the land on ground, and submit their observations to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation by December 10.

“We will also seek help of college students located in our vicinity to help us with individually visit the spots and compare it with the survey,” said Nikhil Desai, resident of Matunga.

Other citizens also claimed that they will individually organise meetings in their own areas along with locals to help them meet the December 10 deadline.

“With a hard copy of the ELU in hand, we will ask locals, who are familiar with their own areas, to start work at the earliest,” said Gautam Rao, a Bandra resident, who will be meeting with residents of the neighboring western suburbs including Khar and Santacruz.
