Instead of a four-hour mega block on the Central line, the commuters will have to gear up for a five-hour block starting this Sunday. But there’s some good news in store — the authorities have withheld the two-hour block that was been imposed on Saturdays every week.
In his recent visit to the city, Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu set a 10-day deadline for CR to improve punctuality. On Sunday, the CR has announced mega block from Thane to Kalyan fast line from 10am to 3pm and Kurla to Vashi on harbour line from 11am to 3pm. Fast trains leaving from CST will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and all stations from Thane to Kalyan, resulting in a 20-minute delay in services.
On the harbour line, all trains between CST to Panvel will remain suspended. On Western Railway (WR), a mega block will be held from 10.35am to 3.35pm on the fast corridor.
