The decomposed body of a new-born baby girl was found dumped in a drain in Mumbai last night, police said today.

The decomposed body of a new-born baby girl was found dumped in a drain in Mumbai on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

On Saturday evening police received an anonymous call informing about the body lying in a drain near Thane Central jail.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered a highly decomposed body of a new born girl child from the drain, assistant police inspector AH Bhosale said, adding that it was sent to the Thane Civil hospital for postmortem.

A case has been registered and search for the baby's parents was on.
