In the standing committee, Kharatmol said it was due to Jadhav that the packed flavoured milk to be given to municipal school students has been delayed.

She added that there was a delay of at least 10 days in issuing the work order to contractors and hence the tetrapacks of milk, which were to be given to schools from August, have not yet been given.

“Jadhav is to be blamed for the delay. He doesn’t seem to be taking things seriously. He should be immediately suspended,” said Kharatmol, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, who was backed by BJP corporator Ashish Shelar and Nationalist Congress Party corporator Niyaz Vanu.

Shelar and Vanu also agreed that there has been a delay in supplying milk to students even though the proposal was cleared in the standing committee in July.

“The reasons for the delay should be probed,” said Vanu.

Shelar demanded that the probe be completed soon and the report should be submitted before the civic standing committee.

Additional Municipal Commissioner AK Singh said the milk would be provided to all students from September 20. “The reason for the delay will be probed and action will be taken against any officer who is found to be responsible for the delay,” Singh said.
