Govt to reply on banning film

The Bombay high court on Wednesday asked the state and union government to file affidavits in two weeks in response to a petition filed seeking a ban on the controversial film The Innocence of Muslims.

The Bombay high court on Wednesday asked the state and union government to file affidavits in two weeks in response to a petition filed seeking a ban on the controversial film The Innocence of Muslims.

The petition was moved by Cong member Ameen Mustafa Idrisi through his lawyer Ejaz Naqvi seeking a direction to the state government to remove the film from websites such as Google and YouTube.

Public prosecutor Revati Dere informed the court that an FIR had been registered and several sites had been blocked and the cyber cell, too, had given recommendations.
