Inquiry against 7 Railway cops after extortion complaints
The Railway police commissioner shunted seven policemen of the Andheri Government Railway Police (GRP) after complaints that they were allegedly extorting money from commuters. They have been transferred to the GRP headquarters, reports Rachna Pratihar.

On April 18, several commuters’ lodged a complaint with the Andheri GRP. The railway police instituted an inquiry headed by Anil Tamaichekar, deputy commissioner of police, GRP, WR. The inquiry is on following which Tamaichekar will submit a report.
GRP Commissioner Tukaram Chavan said, “I have transferred these officials. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure as they might hamper the investigation.” The Indian Railway Act states the Railway Protection Force is authorised to charge fine against trespassers.
