A division bench of Justice B.H. Marlapalle and Justice Amjad Sayed on Thursday asked the chief secretary, JP Dange, to file a reply by Friday or it would have to direct him to remain present in court.

The court observed that if Dange does not reply, then it [the high court] would pass a blanket order staying all such de-reservation by the government. The court was irked at the non-response from the government though it had, on August 26, directed the chief secretary to reply to the petition in four weeks.
