On September 4, the Esplanade metropolitan magistrate’s court had rejected his bail plea saying the investigation is on.

But in his bail application filed before the sessions court, Kothari said he could be released on bail as the investigation has been completed and he is presently in judicial custody.

“The bail application will be hearing on September 13,” said Kothari’s advocate Sanjog Parab. Police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Kothari.

On September 1, 1.30 am, Kothari, who was allegedly drunk, lost control of his car and crashed into a scooter, killing Haji Zulfikar Mohammed Qureshi (48) and injuring pillion rider, Abdul Rehman Shaikh (52).
