“Our volunteers have approached all 38 MLAs in the city with letters regarding the strengthening of the sexual harassment law by amending section 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code,” said Ruben Mascarenhas, Yuva Satta co-ordinator. “Thirty MLAs have signed the letter and assured us they will take up the issue and support the amendment.”

The NGO is demanding that both sections 354 and 509 – pertaining to eve-teasing and outraging a woman’s modesty - be made non-bailable.
