In March, Kapur had knocked down a pedestrian outside a medical store at Yari Road. She was arrested and later released on bail. Kapur told the HC she has reached a financial settlement with the victim and paid him Rs 10 lakh.

Kapur, through her counsel Sachin Shetye, informed a division bench of justice Ranjit V More and Anuja Prabhudessai that she had arrived at a settlement with the victim, Nisar Noormohammed, and his family.

“After the accident, Kapur took the victim to Kokilaben Hospital and made sure he got medical help. The victim suffered a fracture on his right knee. Kapur has borne his medical expenses amounting to Rs 7 lakh. She has given the victim an additional Rs 3 lakh,” Shetye told the high court bench.

However, after questioning Noormohammed, the court concluded that the sum of Rs 3 lakh was not adequate. Noormohammed told the court that the amount will not suffice as he has been out of work since the accident.

“I am an electrician. I have been at home since the accident. I have two children to look after,” he said.

The court has granted both the parties an additional two weeks to decide on the settlement terms.
