Mumbai: Escalators go live at Wadala monorail station
After a delay of almost eight months, MMRDA has started the four escalators at Wadala monorail station, thus making entry to the station convenient and comfortable.
After a delay of almost eight months, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has started the four escalators at Wadala monorail station, thus making entry to the station convenient and comfortable.
MMRDA officials informed that escalators will be made operational at all the other remaining six stations on Chembur-Wadala route by the end of February.
Every station will have four escalators- two from the ground level to concourse level and the other two from concourse level to platforms.
The MMRDA additional commissioner B Venugopal Reddy said, "We have finished major part of the installation of escalators at all stations. We expect the work will be done by the end of February."
There are seven stations on the 8.8km Chembur-Wadala route: Chembur, VN Purav Marg, Fertiliser Colony, Bharat Petroleum, Mysore Colony, Bhakti Park and Wadala.
Earlier, the escalators were supposed to be operational by June last year. However, it got delayed due to technical issues.
