Following the controversy over the alleged obscenity in the comedy show AIB Roast, the Tardeo police are now seeking legal opinion to check if any action can be taken against the organizers or participants.
The investigators are getting the script and clips of the show, as part of the investigation. The police have, however, stated the organizers had got the permission to conduct the show.
“As per the procedure, the permission is issued on the basis of the application submitted to the local police. The script of the show is not looked into at that time by the police,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, deputy police commissioner and Mumbai police spokesperson.
The officials said the script, along with the show’s video clips, will be studied and the legal opinion will help them ascertain if it amounts to legal action. The Tardeo police began a probe after several police stations received complaint applications demanding action citing vulgarity and obscenity. Though several police stations received the complaints, the applications were directed to the Tardeo police station, as the venue of the show is in their jurisdiction.
